Hello All and Happy Imbolc, I guess I have finally developed some degree of success. People are starting to put my writings up without permission and forwarding my writings in a way I have not agreed to beforehand. The latest incident stemmed from my sending out last week's issue as a sample issue to a couple of e-mail groups to which I belong. At the beginning I also had a note that if it was forwarded that the whole post be forwarded and included the link to the website where people can subscribe. There was a huge vent here about what happened and how angry I was about it but I have since received an apology so that cuts out a lot of stuff but it did encourage me to make sure there were also forwarding guidelines attached to this newsletter. You can check them out at the bottom of the page. If you enjoy this newsletter, please inform others. I am trying to build it into the best newsletter I can. Hopefully the others will subscribe as well. I had planned on an article on magical foundations but I had someone look over it with an editor's eye. The only way to get better is to have mistakes pointed out in a constructive manner. Unfortunately by the time she was done it looked like someone had dumped a can of red paint on it. I was all set to start corrections but by the time I was ready, I was upset about the ritual. Yeah I know, ground Sheila, but sometimes venting big time works better. This issue will be very short but look forward to next week's issue. I'm also thinking about adding interviews to this newsletter at some point in time. So until next time, Sheila K. Watkins Editor: Whispers of a Stone Circle See last page of this newsletter for submission guidelines, forwarding guidelines, where you can subscribe to Whispers and copyright information. ~*~*~*~ The Hunt By Sheila K. You'll need a large pasta boiling pot, or a soup pot to cook this properly, one with a lid or that you have a lid to fit. Ingredients for a medium batch: One large can of V-8 Picante Juice One large jar Pace Picante Sauce One large jar any chunky style salsa, any heat One large or two medium size cans Brooks Chili beans, either med or hot One family size can of tomato soup, preferably condensed One can tomato sauce two cans chopped tomatoes, chili style about a cup of green onion, chopped two pounds of hamburger one package sausage optional: one package of beef strips, cut into cubes. 1/8th cup of chili powder 1tbs cilantro, dried 1 tsp black pepper more to taste 1 tsp salt, more to taste 1 tsp oregeno 1 tsp garlic powder or ground garlic w/parsely flakes 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) Directions: Empty all canned or jarred ingredients into large cook pot. Place on med heat, stirring occaisionally, leave the lid off. Add the dry seasonings... if you prefer medium heat chili, leave out the cayenne pepper. While this is warming, fry up hamburger, drain thoroughly. Add meat to chili, fry sausage, drain thoroughly, add to chili. Add the chopped onion to the meat pan and sautee in the last of the sausage grease, then add to chili. If you choose to add the beef cubes, add them after browning. Reduce heat to low, cover and let cook for 30 mins to an hour. Check and stir often to keep contents from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Note: This chili becomes more potent after sitting in the fridge over night. ~*~*~*~ Announcement(s): this place reserved for announcements and press releases I find of interest. I'm pretty lenient about what I place in here but please no Spam that's been around the world so many times everyone has it memorized. I will consider books release announcements, local and national event announcements, and noteworthy news applicable to those in the pagan community among other things. Thank you. Sheila ~*~*~*~ Writer's Biographies: Melinda or Mina describes herself as "Blonde, bratty, and too cute for my own good ... was once told that I am a `candy coated hellcat'. My weaknesses are chocolate, my husband's pout, and a good book. I enjoy chatting with friends and sharing ideas. " She's a long term pagan from the central part of the United States. Sheila K. Watkins knew from the time she was 15 that she wanted to be a writer but did not really start writing until she entered college where she worked on her college newspaper and also worked as the editor of the feature section for one semester. She was also introduced to the love of writing poetry at this time. Fortunately for all of us most of the poems have been lost to the world of men. After college she worked several jobs during the next few years but none included writing. It wasn't until after both of her children had started school in 1998 that she went back to her love of putting words on a computer screen. Her first submission was accepted by publication by the IOWAN newsletter and it started her on the path of truly honing her work. In October of 2000, she founded and became editor of Whispers of a Stone Circle. ~*~*~*~ Submissions are always welcomed and can be made to: Zeliziw@netins.net In submitting materials writers are agreeing that if accepted I may post them in the newsletter and on the web page (whenever I finally get back to work on it.) Works submitted must be the writer's own work and they must still retain the copyright OR it must be verifiably public domain. Works can have been published before but please nothing that has been around over and over again. Copyright remains in the author's possession. The Author also realizes that they will not be paid. (If I had money I would be hosting this on something other then Yahoo.) If a submission is accepted, I will check for punctuation, capitalization and spelling in submitted articles. I will fix minor errors if they are present. I will NOT reword things (except for an occasional "an" for "a" and vice versa.) Poems are published as submitted.
