He sleeps sprawled and taking up more room that is possible for a creature his size, he sleeps several hours a day and he purrs. OK it is snoring but his snoring sounds like a purr and his ears are somewhat pointed. At two months though he is also turning into a real person, he coos and makes other sounds to his family, he smiles and makes your heart melt and when it is bedtime he tries to fight it with all his might. The last few days have been bonding time for Daddy and him. Daddy does something Mommy can't do and Samuel loves it. Daddy can whistle and not just tuneless whistling but actual songs. It is fascinating. "You know how to whistle don't you? Just press your lips together and blow." Ha that may work for most people but I was born without the able to whistle gene. I do this airless mocking thing which might resemble a whistle if I could make a sound. I would also like to remind people that submissions are always welcomed and submission guidelines can be found here: http://www.jbinc.com/whispers/submissions.txt That is it for now, So until next time, Sheila K. Shall I celebrate our meeting again Will you tell me in words what I know you want to say Or must I dance like the flickering flame And pray that I understand? ~*~*~*~ Cool Link(s) of the week: The Pagan Library: http://www.paganlibrary.com/ Pagan Home school page: http://www.homestead.com/barbooch/PaganHomeschool.html Pagan Parenting Page: http://www.paganparenting.net/ ~*~*~*~ White Lighting and its use in Healing By Jodi Wetherup (ierne) First published on April 15, 2002 at: http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/women_healing_methods/90931 Among many pagan groups, the words "White Lighting" are somewhat of a put-down. The term is often equated with fluffy bunny new-ager, rainbows and lollipop folk who see the world through rose-colored glasses. Believe me, I've been accused of seeing the world thusly on many occasions. And, I don't have a problem with that either...I do see the shadows dancing among the sunbeams, I know the balance of light and dark serves a purpose. But that doesn't stop me from being a healer, and trying to rid someone of their disease. White Lighting, in the healing sense of the words, is the practice of enveloping a person in pure, white energy, with the hope of eliminating the dark, negative energy causing the illness. This can be done in several ways. One popular way is infusing the person's aura with the energy, in effect replacing the natural color with white. I have used this method and while it is effective, it takes an extreme amount of concentration, and often leaves both the person and myself exhausted. I have since felt this method is not to be used lightly, as it drains the person's natural energies. Your aura is there for a reason, and is a reflection and gathering point for your energies. Making small repairs with Auric surgeries is one thing - replacing an entire energy field is another. Another method, and one which I much prefer, is adding a layer to the aura. Just past the outer layer, and starting at the crown - pull a "sheet" of white light over the person - using your hands or visualization skills. Have the person visualize also, as this adds to the method. Leave this outer layer intact for as long as the person feels comfortable maintaining it. It should continue to work as long as it is needed. Chakra infusions also work well - and here is where I have had my success. Once the healer has determined the problem or illness, or if the person already knows and can relate the information, determine which chakra governs the area. Briefly stop the spinning, and start it up, spinning counter-clockwise for a moment or two. This should clear any minor blockages, and following this, stop the chakra again, infusing it with white light energy. As you do this, start it spinning in it's normal clockwise motion - you will feel it when there is enough chakra in the chakra. The person can then maintain this for as long as they want, by visualizing the white light streaming into the chakra at intervals during the day. ~*~*~*~ Suggested book/item of the week: The Truth About Witchcraft by Scott Cunningham Original title: The Truth About Witchcraft Today 2 edition (May 1998) http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0875423574/whispeofaston-20 The Truth About Witchcraft Today is the very first book on Witchcraft that I picked up. It answers questions without going into too much depth and is a good start for someone who has questions. It is not a book really a book for anyone who has done much studying but it is a handy little book to hand to someone who thinks they might be interested in Wicca but isn't sure. Just be sure they know that they can ask you questions if need be after they have read this book. IT is 64 pages long and only a couple of bucks so if it doesn't get returned it isn't a major investment as well. ~*~*~*~ Skyward Happenings: Astronomy Picture of the Day http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html ~*~*~*~ In the News: Abortion foe named to FDA panel Hager appointed to committee on women's health policy ASSOCIATED PRESS WASHINGTON, Dec. 25 - A physician who has been criticized for his views on birth control was named to a Food and Drug Administration panel on women's health policy. The National Organization for Women and six other groups that support abortion rights have called Hager's selection a conflict of interest in the name of ideology. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America issued a statement Tuesday calling the appointment of Hager and other doctors on the panel as a "a frontal assault on reproductive rights that will imperil women's health." It said Hager and his wife, Linda, have recommended "specific scripture readings and prayers for such ailments as headaches and premenstrual syndrome." Canadian Man Keeps 16-Year-Old Promise to Care for Cats By John Beattie O T T A W A, Dec. 24 - Stand back across the Rideau Canal and gaze up at the towering Gothic spires of Canada's capital after a light dusting of snow, and you may be tempted by this seemingly fairy-tale setting to mumble under your breath, "Once upon a time." Look back to the left of the center block on Parliament Hill, back behind the bronze statue of Queen Victoria guarded by a bronze lion capped in snow, and you may be tempted to say it again. Because here at the foot of Victoria is a colony of cats and an old man who is trying very hard to keep a promise that he made once upon a time.
