I would like to start off by apologizing. You may have noticed the 3 instances of mail sent over the account which didn't belong there earlier this week. The first one was a case of my forgetting to change the e-mail the second two though, I am not sure what was happening. I hit reply and it automatically sent even if I was planning on changing the e-mail address. I have taken steps so that this never happens again. I guess all I can say is when I screw up I do it in a big way. All I can say is Mercury Retrograde hit me hard this time fortunately it is over (http://astrology.about.com/library/weekly/aa070600a.htm) and I will be glad when its influence is finished this time. I wasn't able to write as much last week as I had planned. One of the computer mishaps was a space bar which refused to space. If you have ever tried to type and hadeverythinglooklikethiswhenyouweredone you know how irksome it can be. I spent the week doing little odd jobs which narrowed my "honey do" list down just a tad. Of course if you know me, you realize that I am not mechanically adept, so we will see if the silverware drawer actually holds together after I put it back together. (That was a new addition to the "honey do" list. the front came off in my younger daughter's hand the day before I fixed it.) I also asked the girls what color would they like to paint their room when it gets warmer. They want multicolored. this could be interesting. So until next time, Sheila K. We do our best to swim and stay afloat Turbulent seas almost a cliche When how long you can tread water means How long can you avoid the strife? It should not be so hard to make the right choices Yet how can I not consider how others feel? Because in the end ... it all matters. ~*~*~*~ Cool Link(s) of the week: Toon stuff Pagan Moon: http://www.toonzone.net/early-years/1932/pagan_moon/ Witch's Brew (Witch Hazel) http://looneytunes.warnerbros.com/web/games/games_display.jsp?id=lt_games_wi tchesbrew Or http://looneytunes.warnerbros.com/web/games/home.jsp and scroll down to Witch's brew ~*~*~*~ Review: Healing Spirits By Jodi Wetherup (ierne) First Published on: September 1, 2002 http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/women_healing_methods/94046 Title: Healing Spirits Author: Judith Joslow-Rodewald & Patricia West-Barker Photographs: Susan Mills Publisher: Crossing Press Pages: 295 ISBN: 1-58091-064-5 Release/Copyright: © 2001 Patricia West-Barker & Judith Joslow-Rodewald Although I received this book quite some time ago, I hadn't been able to sit down with it until recently. I'd pick it up, take it to my chair - but then set it down again and look at it. It just wasn't time for me to read about the lives of other healers. After a recent experience which brought months of stress to a culmination of larger proportions than I'm used to, it definitely was time. I needed to see what the others did at this point in their lives, if they had such a point. The authors travelled all over the United States to visit with and interview many spiritual and energetic healers. Some of the names are familiar to me, others sound as though they should be, when I speak them out loud. Perhaps there is a connection farther into Astral than I thought, but nevertheless, the familiarity is there. The beginning of each chapter is a brief prologue of the healer's life, methods or how he or she came to the path. Following this is an extensive look at the life and practice of the healer, in his or her own words. It's a cross-cultural, cross-spiritual adventure, all leading to the same point - healing. From Native practices to buddhist to Reiki to other forms of energetic and spiritual healing, these ladies have provided a wonderful resource for the new and adept healer. Quote from page: 186 'Jonathon Goldman'; para. 2 "In 1986, Tibetan monks from the Dalai Lama's Gyume Monastery came to the United States for their first historic visit. During this tour, it was my honor to assist in making their first recording in a modern studio. The was in Boston, where I was living at the time. I took the tape of their chanting home with me and put it in my crystal grid - a deep-meditation energy field which utilized 12 very large crystals in a specific geometric pattern designed to enhance higher dimensional consciousness. I listened to the tape all night and fell asleep with it running. When I awoke the next morning, this deep, frowl-like tone emerged from me. It was the same "Deep Voice" that the monks chanted with. The sound is extremely deep and bass-like and feels like an aspect of one of the original creational sounds - a very, very long wave that seems almost inhumanly low. Included in this Voice is another sound, a harmonic that is quite high, almost like a soprano voice. It is an extraordinary sound and somehow I had received it." There are many more such anecdotal stories in this book, and I for one am glad to have read of the lives of others, their excitement, their achievements on the path. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I! ~*~*~*~ Suggested book of the week: Healing Spirits By Judith Joslow-Rodewald & Patricia West-Barker as review above Limited quantities http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1580910645/whispeofaston-20 ~*~*~*~ Skyward Happenings: Astronomy magazine, charts, news http://www.astronomy.com/home.asp ~*~*~*~ In the News: Dueling Protests On Roe Anniversary WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2003 (CBS) Clashing opinions on abortion are being heard loud and clear in the nation's capital as thousands of people mark the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Rose & Moose http://www.ozarkavalon.org I recieved this in an e-mail Valentine War protest Valentines, a good way to say "No" Are you not quite sure that the US is right to attack Iraq? Would you like to communicate your feelings about it but you think you wouldn't be heard? We suggest that people who are uncomfortable with all the talk of war send a valentine to our Congressional Representatives and Senators and to President Bush saying politely that we are just not happy with the threatened war it could make an impact. You don't have to be a peace activist, a "New Age" dreamer or politically in opposition to the present administration. All you need to be is someone who just doesn't feel that we have a good enough reason to go out and start a war and a person who cares about the USA and people in general. All you'll need is four valentines and four first class postage stamps. NO, do not send an email letter or greeting card. Email doesn't make a pile on the floor in the middle of someone's office. Even if there is so much email it overwhelms the servers, it only impresses the few with technical understanding. And it's too damn easy. If you really care, you can take the trouble to send a piece of paper through the Post Office. It is a lot harder to ignore. Put your name and address on the envelope. Inside write a short sentence expressing your feelings. Be polite, people listen better to someone using a pleasant voice and minding their manners. What should you write? You should write what you feel but since some people feel more confident if they have some suggestions, there are a lot of possibilities: "I'm just not sure a war with Iraq is the right thing to do right now." "Our country should not be the one to start a war." "I just don't see why people are saying this war is necessary." To find the names and addresses you'll need, the following sites will be helpful find your Congressperson with your zip code Find your Senator with your zip code Look up addresses for Members of Congress, House and Senate and for the President Address for the President, Vice President, Presidential Aids, etc. Copyright Manya Marshall and Nancy Christopher 2003 Reproduce only if complete and unchanged.
